Sarah Klemuk, Assistant Research Scientis

Sarah Klemuk's primary area of research interest is voice biomechanics and laryngeal cell and molecular biology. She is interested in bioreactor design and implementation for use with living vocal, cochlear, and dermal cell constructs. She is also interested in cell mechanics, cell response to in vivo – like vibrations, and rheologic changes to living tissues due to short and long term vibration exposure. During her doctoral training under the guidance of Dr. Titze and with a 2-year NIH National Research Service Award, she became an expert in rheological measurement and analysis of voice – related tissues, addressing questions about the limited frequency range and degree of measurement accuracy obtainable using a stress-controlled rheometer.

She earned her doctoral degree in Speech and Hearing Science from The University of Iowa in 2007. Previously, she had earned a bachelor's degree in Physics from Iowa in 2000, and a bachelor's degree in Elementary Education and Music in 1989 from the University of Northern Iowa.
