ASA honors Titze for voice research:
Ingo Titze, Ph.D., UI Foundation Distinguished Professor,was honored with the Silver Medal in Speech Communication from the Acoustical Society of America. The periodic award recognizes contributions to the advancement of science, engineering or human welfare through the application of acoustic principles.
He is being recognized for making fundamental contributions to the physics and biomechanics of vocal fold vibration and for interdisciplinary work in voice studies.The award was presented Nov. 29 at an ASA meeting in New Orleans.
SVI Alumnus Honored: Paul Poovathingal has been awarded the 2007 Kerala Catholic Bishops Conference Media Award. This highest award of the Church of Kerala is in recognition of his contributions and the Christian presence in Indian classical music world. The award will be given February 2, 2008, at the Pastoral Orientation Centre, Parivattam, Ernakulam, Kerala, India.

The Center for Voice and Swallowing Services
at the National Center for Voice and Speech is an
exciting, new collaboration that brings to the table experience
and reputation for providing some of the highest quality vocal
care in the nation. The CVSS has expanded to offer medical services at the
NCVS as a convenience to their patients. Patients needing

...was built exclusively for
the vocal health of U.S. teachers. Unfortunately, teachers have
more voice problems than just about any occupational group, although
recent advances in voice research can allow teachers to prevent
or self-manage as many as 75 percent of their voice problems. The
project was funded by a grant from the National Institute on Deafness
and Other Communication Disorders. Sponsors are the National Center
for Voice and Speech and The University of Iowa's Department of
