Christine Bergan, M.M., M.A.,
CCC-SLP
Christine Bergan, MM, MA, CCC-SLP is a doctoral candidate in voice
science in the Department of Speech Pathology and Audiology at The
University of Iowa. She recently passed her Ph.D. comprehensive
exams and is currently A.B.D status. Her mentor is Dr. Ingo Titze.
She earned a bachelor's degree in music education
(voice) from Evangel University, Springfield, Missouri, in 1986
and a master's
degree in vocal performance from the University of Northern Iowa
in 1996. In between, she taught K-12 vocal and instrumental music
for eight years in the public schools. She has been a private instructor
of voice and piano for the past 15 years and continues to be an
active performer. She completed the master’s degree in speech
and language pathology from the University of Iowa in May, 2001,
and has been a certified speech and language pathologist treating
both pediatric and adult/geriatric patients encompassing a great
diversity of etiologies since May, 2002.
She has completed research involving the perception
of vocal qualities and has been the first author on two articles,
both published in
the Journal of Voice, and the second author on a third article,
currently in press. She has been a guest presenter/speaker for
two recent Voice Foundation’s “Care of the Professional
Voice ” Symposiums
held in Philadelphia, PA.
