The Denver home of the National Center for Voice and Speech
is located at the Denver
Center for the Performing Arts. Founded by DCPA
Chairman
Donald R. Seawell and the late Wilbur James
Gould, M.D., this unique
voice research and clinical care facility is the only center of
its kind in the
world which is a division of a major performing arts organization.
Now under the direction of Ingo R. Titze,
Ph.D., the Denver division
of the
NCVS is actively exploring four main research areas: the occupational
use of the voice, engineering the lamina propria of the vocal folds,
the efficacy
of LSVT® on Parkinson's Disease, and the unique characteristics,
capabilities and health problems of elite performers. The NCVS is
housed in a new facility on top of the historic Denver Tramway Building
located at the corner of 13th and Arapahoe..
