Peter Popolo, Research Associate / Engineer

Peter Popolo is a research engineer at the National Center for Voice and Speech, where he maintains and operates state-of-the-art laboratory and recording equipment and conducts research in voice and speech. He holds a Certificate in Vocology from the University of Iowa, and the B.S.E.E. and M.S.E.E. degrees from Rutgers University, where he specialized in Communications & Signal Processing. He is also a Ph.D. candidate in Speech and Hearing Science at the University of Iowa. His research interests include physiological models of speech production, speech perception, and emotion in speech and singing.

Peter is a classically trained tenor and has studied voice since 1995. He sings in Opera Colorado Chorus and the Choir of the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, and has performed with such organizations as Colorado Symphony Chorus, Colorado Opera Troupe, Opera Fort Collins, Augustana Arts, Peak Arts Association, Musicians of St. Clare, Boulder Chorale and the Colorado Music Festival Chorus. His stage credits include King Kaspar in Menotti's Amahl and the Night Visitors and Perchik in Fiddler On the Roof.
